This is My Window was a two-week project that involved writing journal-like entries onto the windows of my live/work studio for people on the street to read. These fragments of text were based on things I saw from my apartment and of ordinary things that I did while in my room and directly addressed the passerby in a playful yet uncomfortable way. This work was in fact a reaction and interpretation of the history of the painted and printed panorama, but from a much more personal viewpoint. Instead of representing inside what might be seen outdoors, it represented to people outdoors, through the use of text, what might be happening inside. Although the glass acts as a physical separation between the viewer and myself, the text offers one the right to transgress the transparent division between public and private space.
